Materials
Needles: 8UK/4mm single point straight needles
Gauge: Doesn't matter
Yarn: 1 ball of double knit (8ply) wool.
I used two balls of 4 ply wool, doubled, and had about one third of each ball left. But you can really use anything. Remember if you use thicker wool and larger needles you will make a larger garment. When it was finished it was snug but it has worn to a well-fitting comfortable favourite winter garment.
Measurements
For a small adult head.

How does it look?
The brim rolls up a bit - cllck here to have a look.
After a few Dunedin mornings of temperatures below freezing, I decided it was time to make myself a warm woolly hat. I started it about 9.30 am and knitted on and off all day. I finished it about 7.30pm. So I reckon it took me about seven hours to knit. Not bad, eh!
Enjoy, and pass on to other knitters or make for your local op-shop and church sale.
